Oh, it's always about us, isn't it?
Well it should be, since we are North America’s largest growing chain of neighbourhood pubs – a welcoming place to meet friends for a pint, some fine food and a good time. Brilliant! It’s an idea that Firkin founders, Stanley Adelson and Ian Fisher, will gladly tell you was theirs.
They will also tell you (or brag) that they are co-founders of Firkin University. Established in 2001, Firkin University was created as a higher learning institute for Firkin franchisees. Today, the University continues to educate those seeking Firkin enlightenment, however, its new passion is philanthropy. Not something you’d expect from an institute called F.U.
In addition to the launch of F.U., which tackles the problem of student debt in a completely new and innovative way, Firkin’s support of Ontario Food Banks and the annual Firkin Golf Classic are other examples of how the company gives back to the community. In just 10 years, this golf tournament has raised more than $1.9 million for various charities, including $700,000 for Sick Kids Hospital’s Cardiac Kids.
Alright, enough of the mushy stuff. It’s time for you to enroll in F.U. and tell us why you deserve a $5,000 debt-eliminating award.
